Ο Γιάννης Χατζηθεοδοσίου γεννήθηκε το 1963 στο Μπαμπαλιό Βάλτου Αιτωλοακαρνανίας από γονείς ποντιακής καταγωγής. Σπούδασε Οικονομικές Επιστήμες στην Ανώτατη Βιομηχανική Σχολή Πειραιά –σημερινό ΠΑ.ΠΕΙ.– και συμμετείχε στο Δ.Σ. Φοιτητικού Συλλόγου.
Ξεκίνησε την ασφαλιστική του δραστηριότητα ως Ασφαλιστικός Σύμβουλος στη Nationale Nederlanden. Το 1990 ίδρυσε το Πρακτορείο «Ασφάλειες Χατζηθεοδοσίου» και το 1998 την Εταιρεία MEGA Ασφάλειες ΕΠΕ, που τo 2006 απέκτησε την τελική της μορφή ως MEGA BROKERS SA, τη μεγαλύτερη μεσιτική εταιρία ασφαλειών τα τελευταία 15 χρόνια, και στην οποία είναι Πρόεδρος και Διευθύνων Σύμβουλος έως και σήμερα. Επιπλέον, έχει διατελέσει μέλος ΔΣ της Ένωσης Ασφαλιστικών Διαμεσολαβητών Ελλάδας (ΕΑΔΕ).
Το 1990 εκλέχθηκε Δημοτικός Σύμβουλος και Πρόεδρος του Δημοτικού Συμβουλίου Αγίας Βαρβάρας, θέση στην οποία επανεκλέχθηκε το 1994, ενώ από το 1993 έως το 1996 διετέλεσε Προέδρος του Νομαρχιακού Νοσοκομείου Δυτικής Αττικής (πρώην Λοιμωδών).
To 2018 εκλέχθηκε ως Αντιπρόεδρος στην Κεντρική Ένωση Επιμελητηρίων Ελλάδος, ενώ από τον Αύγουστο του 2021 έως και τον Φεβρουάριο του 2022 διατήρησε την θέση του Προέδρου.
Η θεσμική του πορεία στο Επαγγελματικό Επιμελητήριο Αθηνών ξεκίνησε το 2001 όπου εκλέχθηκε για πρώτη φορά μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου, ενώ την περίοδο 2012-2014 διετέλεσε Γενικός Γραμματέας ΕΕΑ και Πρόεδρος της Ερμής Αστική Εταιρεία ΕΕΑ. Έχει εκλεγεί Πρόεδρος του ΕΕΑ από το 2014, θέση που μέχρι και σήμερα διατηρεί, με την επανεκλογή του το 2017 και το 2024.
Ορίστηκε Αντιπρόεδρος ΟΠΕΜΕΔ (Οργανισμός Προώθησης Εναλλακτικών Μεθόδων Επίλυσης Διαφορών), από το σημερινό αντιπρόεδρο της Κυβέρνησης κ. Πικραμένο,
Αντιπρόεδρος του Περιφερειακού Συμβουλίου των Επιμελητηρίων Αττικής και επίτιμο μέλος του Δ.Σ. του Διεθνούς Επιμελητηρίου (ICC).
Είναι μέλος του Οικονομικού Επιμελητηρίου Ελλάδος, μέλος του Δ.Σ. της ΕΛΑΝΕΤ (Διαχειριστική Αρχή Προγραμμάτων ΕΣΠΑ Αττικής), μέλος Δ.Σ. ΕΕΣΥΜ (Ελληνικός Επιμελητηριακός Επιχειρηματικός Σύνδεσμος Μεταφορών).
Από τον Απρίλιο 2025 είναι μέλος του Προεδρείου της Γ.Σ.Ε.Β.Ε.Ε.
Έχει ανακηρυχθεί Επίτιμος Διδάκτωρ στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιά καθώς και στο Γεωπονικό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών.
Είναι παντρεμένος με τη Χρυσάνθη Τσίχλη και έχει δυο παιδιά, τον Τάσο και την Ιωάννα.

Ioannis Chatzitheodosiou was born in 1963 in Babalio, Valtos, Aitoloakarnania, to parents of Pontic Greek origin. He studied Economics at the Higher Industrial School of Piraeus — today the University of Piraeus — and served on the Board of the Student Association.
He began his career in the insurance sector as an Insurance Consultant at Nationale Nederlanden. In 1990, he founded the agency “Chatzitheodosiou Insurance,” and in 1998 he established MEGA Insurance Ltd., which in 2006 evolved into MEGA BROKERS SA, one of the leading insurance brokerage companies in Greece over the past 15 years, where he continues to serve as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He has also served as a Board Member of the Hellenic Association of Insurance Intermediaries (EADE).
In 1990, he was elected Municipal Councilor and President of the Municipal Council of Agia Varvara, a position to which he was re-elected in 1994. From 1993 to 1996, he served as President of the Western Attica General Hospital (formerly the Infectious Diseases Hospital).
In 2018, he was elected Vice President of the Union Of Hellenic Chambers Of Commerce, while from August 2021 until February 2022 he served as its President.
His institutional career at the Athens Chamber of Tradesmen began in 2001, when he was first elected as a member of the Board of Directors. During the 2012–2014 period, he served as General Secretary of the Chamber and President of Hermes Civil Company of the Athens Chamber of Tradesmen. He has served as President of the Chamber since 2014 and was re-elected in 2017 and again in 2024.
He was appointed Vice President of OPEMED (Organization for the Promotion of Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods) by the current Deputy Prime Minister of Greece, Mr. Pikrammenos. He also serves as Vice President of the Regional Council of the Chambers of Attica and is an honorary member of the Board of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
He is a member of the Economic Chamber of Greece, a Board Member of ELANET (Managing Authority of Attica ESPA Programs), and a Board Member of EESYM (Hellenic Chamber Transport Business Association).
Since April 2025, he has been a member of the Presidium of GSEVEE.
He has been awarded honorary doctorates by the University of Piraeus and the Agricultural University of Athens.
He is married to Chrysanthi Tsichli and has two children, Tasos and Ioanna.
